1330    Central: Arrest - O&R / Battery on a Police Officer on North Arlington Ave.

Officers responded to a report of a fight and upon their arrival the suspects attempted to walk away but were detained. One of the suspects then spit on an officer and began striking him in the chest.  Tori Howes, DOB 10/20/1997, was arrested on the above charges.  Alberto Flores, DOB 9/16/1993, was arrested for FTA & O&R.  David Rivas, DOB 6/5/1965, was arrested for FTA & PCS.

Monday, March 27, 2017 

1837    North: Arrest - Child Endangerment on Munley.

Michelle Vanbeekom, DOB 1/28/1982, and Jon Payne, DOB 4/10/1968, were arrested on the above charges.

1957    Central: Robbery @ 6th & Evans Ave.

The victim was approached by the suspect who had exited a vehicle.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and then got back into the vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries when she attempted to hold on to the vehicle as it fled.  The suspects are only described as: #1 W/F/A, #2 B/M/A.

2234    North:  Arrest – ADW / Battery / Burglary / Home Invasion / Child Endangerment             on Wedekind Rd.

The suspects broken into the residence, smashed windows, kicked in doors and then peppered sprayed the victims. Two of the suspects were armed and threatened some of the victims. Offices made contact with two of the suspects.  Cecilia Navarro, DOB 9/22/1995, and Horacio Gonzalez, DOB 9/10/1996, were arrested on the above charges.  Three other suspects are still outstanding and the Regional Gang unit will be conducting the investigation.

0636:   South: Armed Robbery on South Virginia St:

Shortly after the victim returned to his room the suspects entered, battered him with a weapon and then stole his cash and property.  The suspects are described as: #1H/M/A, mid twenties, LSW black pants, black sweatshirt, white “Dodgers” jersey, black shoes and a black hat.  #2 H/M/A, mid twenties, goatee, LSW a black hat with a white logo, grey “Nevada” sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.  #3 H/F/A, mid twenties, long brown hair, LSW a dark grey “Nevada” sweatshirt, dark jeans and white shoes.  #4 H/F/A, mid twenties, long brown hair, LSW a white collar shirt, dark grey sweatshirt and dark pants.

Officers located a stolen motor vehicle and made contact with the suspect.  Ryan Misner, DOB 12/1/1986, was arrested on the above charges.

0014    South: Hot Prowl Residential Burglary on Cardinal Wy.

            The victim heard some noises inside her residence and noticed a door was slightly ajar and several cabinets/drawers had been opened.  There are no suspects at this time.

            The victim was a passenger in a vehicle when a disturbance occurred and the suspect threw a brick striking the victim in the face.  The victims injury is non-life threatening.  There is no suspect description at this time.

0443    Central: Strong Armed Robbery @ 5th & Evans Av.

The victim was sitting in his parked vehicle when the suspect entered his vehicle, battered him and then stole his cash and property.  The suspects are described as: #1 B/F/A, mid twenties, 5’8” tall, LSW a gray hoodie and blue jeans.  #2 B/M/A, mid twenties, 5’11” tall, 180 lbs., faded afro style hair, LSW a black hoodie and blue jeans.

2225    South:  Arrest - O&R / Vehicle Burglary / Att. Grand Larceny / Poss. of Dangerous     Weapon @ Lymberry & Grove St.

Officers observed subjects ducking behind vehicles and when they went to make contact the subjects attempted to flee.  Officers located one of the suspects and learned he had just burglarized a vehicle in the area.  Michael Harrell, DOB 10/6/1993, was arrested on the above charges.  The second suspect is still outstanding.

0313    Central: Arrest – Trespass / O&R on Record St.

            The suspect had just been trespassed and escorted off the property but refused to leave and jumped the fence back onto the property.  The suspect then became uncooperative with officers and began kicking them as they were taking him into custody.  Michael Smith, DOB 12/18/1976, was arrested on the above charges.

0910    South: Arrest – PSMV / PCS / Poss. of a Short Barreled Shotgun / Poss. of             Burglary Tools / PSP / O&R on Harvard Wy.

Officers responded to a report of a subject down inside a vehicle. Upon contact the suspect gave officers false identification and it was learned the vehicle had been stolen.  Devin Kelbch, 3/5/1988, was arrested on the above charges.

The victim returned to his car to find someone had used an object to scratch derogatory symbols and words onto his car.  There are no suspects at this time.

Officers attempted to conduct a stop on an occupied stolen vehicle but the driver continued driving until striking another occupied vehicle.  The suspect then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.  Wayne Russell, DOB 8/22/1962, was arrested on the above charges.

1859    Central: Arrest - Robbery with a Deadly Weapon / Home Invasion / Child             Endangerment on Eureka Ave.

The suspects banged on the victims door and demanded money.  When the victim advised that there were children in the house and he did not have any money, one suspect retrieved a pistol from his vehicle. The residents were able to flee the house and when Officers arrived they located both subjects inside the house.  Jamal Wright, DOB 3/27/1992, was arrested on the above charges as well as Robbery, Burglary & Battery from a previous case.  Bryon Smith, DOB 11/9/1998, was arrested on the above charges.

0227    North: Arrest - DOP / O&R @ Loki & Scottsdale Rd.

            Officers were taking the suspect into custody for DOP when he began kicking at them.  Ivan Caloca, DOB 1/11/1994, was arrested on the above charges.

0643    Central: Arrest - Burglary / O&R on East 6th St.

The suspect pushed open the victim’s door and walked inside.  But when he was confronted by another resident he fled.  The suspect then attempted to flee from officers upon their arrival.  Eric Washington, DOB 6/18/1980, was arrested on the above charges.

The victim heard a door in his residence open and when he went to check it out he was confronted by the suspects who began to beat him and demand money.  The suspects are only described as 4 males.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired and discovered several casings.  There were no reported injuries and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim and the suspect were parked next to each other in their own vehicles when words were exchanged.  The suspect then produced a gun and fired a shot into the ground next to the victim vehicle. The suspect is described as: H/M/A, mid twenties to mid thirties, 5’6” tall, 250 lbs., bald, LSW a black shirt over a white shirt and black pants.

The victims made a comment regarding an aggressive dog in a passing vehicle when the driver of that vehicle exited, simulated she had a gun and threatened them.  Wadeeah Ramadan-Nwokedi, DOB 4/18/1972, was arrested on the above charge.

            Officers responded to a report of a possible harassment and made contact with the             suspect.  Cornelius Long, DOB 11/6/1984, was arrested on the above charges.

0700    North:  Strong Armed Robbery on Downey Wy.

Earlier in the morning the victim had been involved in a financial dispute with another             subject.  Later that same morning the suspects arrived and began to bang on the victims             door causing one pane of glass to break.  The victim attempted to flee into the backyard         but one of the suspects jumped the fence and battered him and stole his phone.  The     suspects are described as: #1 B/F/A, mid thirties, 5'6” tall, 130 lbs., black hair, LSW blue        jeans and red boots.  #2 B/M/A 6' tall, thin build, glasses, black hair, LSW a brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.  #3 B/M/A, 5'8” tall, heavy set.

Officers were hailed by the victim of an attempted Armed Robbery and observed the suspects in the area attempting to flee.  The suspects were located a short time later.  Francisco Navarro, DOB 12/1/1998, was arrested on the above charges.  Luis Acosta, DOB 1/20/1999, was arrested for MIC & O&R

The victim was involved in an argument with a suspect when another suspect intervened and stabbed the victim.  A second victim then got involved and was also stabbed by the suspect.  The victims’ injuries are non-life threatening.  The suspects have been identified but are still outstanding.

Officers responded to a report of a fight and located the victim.  Upon investigation they learned the suspect had repeatedly hit the victim in the head with a beer bottle.  The suspect is described as: W/M/A, 6’ tall, heavyset, LSW a t-shirt and jeans.

0428    South: Commercial Burglary @ Mill St

Owner arrived to work to find the front door window smashed and cash drawer removed. There are no suspects at this time.

0941    South: Arrest - PSMV/PCS @ Brinkby

Officers located an unoccupied, stolen, Honda Accord in the parking lot. Officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and noticed another stolen Honda pull into the parking lot. One suspect fled and one was arrested. Arrested on the above charges was Hugo Lozano, (DOB 8/25/92).

1439    South: Robbery @ Meadowood Mall Wy

Victim was attempting to sell a cell phone to a party inside of a vehicle. A second party entered the vehicle. Victim was robbed at gunpoint but was able to escape the vehicle. Suspects are described as #1: WMA, 5’10”, medium build, Late 20’s; and #2: BMA, 5’10”, medium build, mid 20’s, LSW: blk hat and denim jacket. Vehicle is described as: Wht Toyota Scion with broken passenger window.

Officers responded to a business for a burglary alarm and found the door unlocked. Entry had been made through a skylight. Loss is undetermined.

Officers responded to shots fired. Casings were found in the street. Upon further investigation, officers learned that the shots came from a chase between two vehicles. Vehicles were described as: #1:  Older model, blue Cadillac type vehicle with white top and spare tire built into trunk, described as a “low rider” and #2: White newer model Saturn passenger car. No injuries reported at this time.

Officers responded to a fight in progress. Officers arrived to find a victim with injuries caused when victim confronted suspect who kicked down the front door to residence. Suspect was gone on arrival. Victim was taken to the hospital for injuries. Nothing further at this time.

The victim and the suspect have been having an ongoing feud. Each party gathered friends for a fight. During the fight, one of the suspect’s friends pulled a gun on one of the victim’s friends. Suspect group fled upon police arrival. Suspect with gun is described as: BMA, 19-21, 600, medium build and brn curly hair.

Man arrested for multiple Commercial Burglaries

3/10/2017

Reno, NV— Since January 17th, 2017 the Reno Police Department Detective Division and the Regional Crime Suppression Unit (RCSU) have been actively investigating a series of window smash commercial burglaries in the Reno/ Sparks area.  In this time period, multiple burglaries have occurred during the early morning hours where a rock was used to break the windows to businesses in the area.  The suspect then enters and targets the cash registers in the stores.  On several occasions multiple businesses were hit in the same evening.  Video surveillance depicted a specific vehicle being used which was used to link the cases together.

On February 27th, 2017 Officers with the Reno Police Department were proactively looking for the vehicle and were able to stop the vehicle and identify the occupants.  Further investigation by detectives from the information gathered in the traffic stop showed that the listed suspect was responsible for the 11 listed commercial burglaries. 

On March 9th, 2017 the listed defendant was contacted once again in the vehicle.  The defendant was interviewed and arrested for the listed charges.

Officers responded to a report that suspects had just stolen property and were fleeing the area on foot.  Upon arrival officers observed the suspect fleeing in opposite directions but were able to detain them both.  Michael Reeves, DOB 12/2/1989, was arrested on the above charges.  Ashley Williams, DOB 7/21/1990, was arrested for O&R.

            Officers responded to reports of suspects breaking into occupied residences and observed the subjects who matched the description of the suspects walking in the area.  The subjects attempted flee but officers were able to detain 2 of them.  The suspects, both juveniles, were arrested for O&R and one was arrested for PCS.

Officers observed an occupied stolen vehicle and conducted a stop.  Michael Pina, DOB 9/15/1968, was arrested on the above charges.  Lorinda Muller, DOB 10/20/1981, was arrested for PCS.

The victim awoke to find the suspect inside her residence.  After the suspect fled the victim realized her purse had been stolen.  The suspect is described as: H/M/A, mid twenties, 5’6” tall, medium build.

Officers were taking the suspect into custody for Disturbing the Peace when she began to resist and kicked an officer.  Christina Thomas, DOB 4/23/1984, was arrested on the above charges,

The suspect had threatened an employee with a knife and as officers were taking the suspect into custody he began to resist.  Damian Blanton, DOB 2/15/1970, was arrested on the above charges.

Washoe County Sheriff's Office updates officer involved shooting investigation – search continues

Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Sparks Police Department continue to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred last night on Kietzke Lane in Reno.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, officers with the Reno Police Department initiated at traffic stop on Kietzke Lane just north of Peckham Lane.  

According to what investigators have learned, as officers contacted the vehicle occupants, at least one shot was fired from the vehicle injuring one of the Reno Police officers. Two males then exited the vehicle. Shots were fired, one of the suspects was injured and the other fled on foot.

The injured Reno Police Officer and suspect were both transported to Renown Medical Center for treatment. The suspect was declared deceased at the hospital. The officer is reported to be in stable condition.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies continue to search for the second occupant of the vehicle. He has been identified as Erick Bernal, age 17. Bernal is described as a male Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 135 pounds with shaved hair. A photo of Bernal is attached to this press release.

Bernal is considered a public safety risk. Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact 911 immediately.

The Washoe County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Protocol has been activated and the Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency. Anyone with information that may assist this investigation is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.

The victim and suspect were involved in an altercation that turned physical when the suspect stabbed the victim.  The victim’s injury is non-life threatening.  The suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

1543    North: Arrest - Battery on a Police Officer / O&R on Spokane.

            The suspect had wondered into a residence and begun screaming and banging on doors.  As officers attempted to make contact with the suspect she became violent and combative with them.  Shantera Frenna, DOB 7/22/1988, was arrested on the above charges.

1630    South:  Arrest - Possession of Short Barreled Rifle / O&R on Yori Ave.

Officers were attempting to serve a warrant at the above location when the suspect refused to exit and barricaded himself inside. The suspect eventually exited the residence.  Pierre Vega, DOB 6/1/1983, was arrested on the above charges.  Emanuel Lilio, DOB 12/25/1986, was arrested for O&R and Isidro Lopez, DOB 11/28/1989, was arrested on a warrant.
