0059:   South: Robbery @ Moran St

While walking home, victims were approached, punched from behind, and robbed of personal property by an unknown suspect. The suspect was described as W/M wearing dark clothing. The suspect was gone on arrival.

0137    Central:  BDW stabbing @ N. Arlington

Officers responded to the report of a stabbing just occurred. Upon investigation, officers learned that the victim and suspect engaged in a verbal argument causing a physical altercation resulting in the stabbing. Suspect fled on foot. A search of the area did not produce the suspect. Suspect is described as: WMA, 20-30 yo, 5’10” - 6’0”, avg build. LSW: dark colored baseball hat, dark hoodie, and dark pants. Victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Resident arrived home to find home had been burglarized and items taken. Suspect(s) were gone on officer arrival.

While walking, the victim was approached by a suspect who attempted a purse snatch. Victim was able to retain her purse but still lost property. Suspect escaped in a waiting vehicle. Suspect was described as: BMA, 20-25 yo, 5’10”-5’11”, slim build. LSW: light colored jacket and blue jeans. Possible suspect vehicle was described as a Gold Buick with Nevada plates.

Masked suspects pushed opened the door to a residence and battered the resident before taking personal property and fleeing. The victim sustained no serious injury. Suspects were described as: WMA and BMA. LSW: dark clothing.

2216    North: Arrest - BDW @ Sageland Wy

Officers were informed that the subject came to the residence, initiated an argument, and struck the victim in the head before leaving the scene. Victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officers made contact with the subject and made an arrest. Arrested on the above charge was Casey Crozby (DOB 10-16-88).

0147    Central:  Arrest – Robbery with Elderly Enhancement / Attempted Robbery / Burglary on Vine St.

The suspect had walked up to the victim, grabbed her purse and a short struggle occurred. The suspect then fled with the victim’s property.  Officers learned the suspect had also been involved in a previous crime.  Kaleel Rickerson, DOB 8/3/1997, was arrested on the above charges.

1910    North: BDW, Stabbing on Carville Dr.

The victim had asked the suspect and his associates to leave his residence earlier in the evening.  The suspect returned and began to punch the victim in the face and then stabbed him with a knife before fleeing.  The victim’s injury was non-life threatening.  The suspect is described as: I/M/A, 5’8”-5’10” tall, medium build, long braided ponytail, LSW a black Raiders hat, black jacket and blue jeans.

0331    South: Arrest - Vehicle Burglary / PSMV / Poss. Burg Tools on South Virginia.

The suspect was observed entering parked vehicles.  During the investigation Officers discovered the vehicle she was driving had been stolen.  Jessica Michaelson, DOB 1/26/1993, was arrested on the above charges.

Officers responded to an alarm and discovered a window had been smashed and electronic property had been damaged.  There was no reported loss and there are no suspects at this time.

The victims stopped their car, got out and attempted to help a subject who was being chased by a suspect who had a crowbar.  The suspect then turned towards the victims and began hitting them with the crowbar.  Both the suspects then got into the victims vehicle and fled.  The suspects are described as: #1 W/M/A, mid twenties to mid thirties, 5’6” tall, 160 lbs., LSW a blue hooded sweatshirt & blue jeans.  #2 W/F/A, mid twenties, 5’ tall, 150 lbs., LSW a black hoodie with white lettering and black jeans.

Reno Police Department will begin accepting applications for Police Recruit

Reno, NV – The Reno Police Department will begin accepting applications for the position of Police Recruit from April 17th, 2017 through 5:00 pm May 19th, 2017.   

The minimum requirements for interested persons to apply are: 

  • You must be a citizen of the United States by May 19th, 2017
  • You must be at least 21 years of age by May 19th, 2017
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED certificate by May 19th, 2017

We are looking for a diverse pool of qualified applicants who have traits and characteristics to include treating everyone fairly, having a high level of integrity, respect for others, as well as a commitment to service. 

Upon selection, recruits will attend the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy.  Recruits attending the academy will be paid as City of Reno employees and receive a beginning wage of  approximately $51,700 per year, full time medical, dental and vision benefits after thirty days of employment.  The department will issue the majority of the equipment needed while in the academy.

The victim was at this location to sell property for a friend when he was approached by the suspects, some of whom were armed.  They demanded the property he was selling as well as his personal property.  One of the suspects was located a short time later.  Steven Bounds, DOB 5/19/1987, was arrested on the above charge.

Officers responded to a report of a subject stabbing at the victim’s door with a knife and attempting to gain entry into the residence.  When the suspect realized officers were responding he attempted to barricade himself inside his residence.  Kaleb Tate, DOB 11/10/1995, was arrested on the above charges.

The victim returned home to find the suspects inside his residence.  One suspect displayed a Taser as they demanded his property and then fled.  The suspects are described as: #1 H/M/A, mid twenties to mid thirties, large build, 6’4” tall.  #2 H/M/A, mid twenties to mid thirties, 5’8” tall, 180 lbs.  #3 H/F/A, 5’6” tall, 150 lbs.

Officers responded to a report of someone screaming and playing music loudly.  When they arrived the suspect threatened them with a gun and refused to exit the residence.  The suspect finally exited and James Davis, DOB 5/25/1962, was arrested on the above charges.

The victim was turning into his parking lot when he heard several gun shots, which went through the rear window of his vehicle.  The victim received an injury to his shoulder but it is non-life threatening and the investigation is ongoing.

0008    Central:  Possible ADW, Firearm / DOP on East 6th St.

The victim was sitting inside his parked vehicle when a vehicle occupied by the suspects approached and one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and drove off.  The vehicle returned a short time later and one of the suspects threw a rock at the victim’s car breaking his windshield and then drove off.  The suspect vehicle was located abandoned a couple hours later and had been reported as stolen.  The suspects are only described as: 2 W/M/A’s, mid twenties, short hair.

0203    South: Arrest - Domestic Battery on South Virginia St.

Nicole Maranto, DOB 1/1/1988, was arrested on the above charge.

2144    South: Commercial Burglary on Plumas.

            Employees observed the suspects loading construction site materials into a vehicle and then flee. Total loss has not been disclosed.  The suspect vehicle is described as: late 90’s Red Toyota Pickup truck with a broken driver side window.  There are no suspect descriptions at this time.

1400    South: Arrest - Domestic Battery / DOP / PCS on Mill St.

Burlee Gill, DOB 9/10/1972, was arrested on the above charges.

Case #17-6377

1850    Central: BDW, Stabbing @ Center & 4th St.

The victim was approached by the suspect who produced a knife and attempted to stab him for an unknown reason.  The victim received a laceration to this thumb and the suspect fled.  The suspect is described as: B/F/A, 5’6” tall, heavy build, short hair, LSW a blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

1856    South: Arrest - Robbery / Harassment on East Patriot.

The suspects had battered the victim and taken property from him earlier in the evening and were now kicking his door trying to gain entry.  James Emslander, DOB 7/8/1959, and Richard Brumette, DOB 8/5/1966, were arrested on the above charges.

2316    Central: Arrest – GTA / Poss. of Burglary Tools on Lake St.

Officers observed an occupied stolen vehicle and conducted a stop.  Martin Miller, DOB 12/16/1972, was arrested on the above charges.

0127    Central: Arrest – O&R / Poss. of Fireworks @ Plumas & Sierra St.

            The suspect was seen igniting fireworks in front of the business and when officers went to detain him he attempted to flee.  Jesse Azucena, DOB 1/11/1987, was arrested on the above charges.

0500    Central: Shooting on East 4th St.

Officers responded to reports of numerous shots heard and located several casings.  There were no reported injuries and the investigation is ongoing.

0929    South: Arrest - Vehicle Burglary / DUI on East Taylor St.

Officers conducted a stop on an occupied vehicle leaving the area that matched the description of a suspect and suspect vehicle involved in a Vehicle Burglary.  Angela Benitez-Jearman, DOB 5/15/1975, was arrested on the above charges.

1623    Central: Robbery on North Arlington.

The victim was approached by the suspect who started an argument, displayed a gun, and then punched the victim in the face and stole his property and cash.  The suspect is described as: B/M/A, late twenties, LSW a white & grey t-shirt and blue jeans.

1930    Central: BDW, Baseball Bat on East Stevenson.

The victim approached the suspects and asked if they had a cigarette.  The suspects did not answer they jumped out of the vehicle and hit the victim in the ribs with a baseball bat causing him to fall to the ground. The suspects are only described as: 3 W/M/As, one wearing a black leather jacket.

0334    Central: ADW, Knife on East 4th St.

The victim and suspect were involved in a disagreement.  When the victim asked the suspect to leave the store the suspect threatened him with a knife.  Kenneth Prince, DOB 10/15/1957, was arrested on the above charge.

0745    North: BDW, Bottles on North Virginia St.

The victim and suspects were involved in an argument that turned physical when the suspects used bottles to batter the victims.  The suspects have been identified but are still outstanding.
